Inspiration to Write
A Writer need never lack stimulation. Why? Because a fruitful imagination and a mind that absorbs everything seen, heard, experienced or witnessed, can be used as building blocks for creativity.
Regardless of whether you want to create stories or features, this workshop will help you discover:
·
the value of your own personal experiences
·
how to tap into the wealth of stimulation that surrounds us
·
the art of indulging your imagination
This workshop includes writing exercises and handouts.
Sandra Smith's alter ego, the delightfully old school Lady Margaret Gosworthy-Pringle, is now sharing her 'Journal Jottings' with Hampshire Life readers.
Sandra Smith also blogs for Hertfordshire Life, sharing the challenges of being a freelance writer with the juggling of domesticity in 'A Write Life!'
Readers of Great British Life's London website can now read Sandra Smith's blog, 'My Islington Friend'.

“Brushes with words”
- a workshop in poetry writing
The structure of this workshop is the setting-up of a series of skirmishes in the permanently challenging battle to make words express as precisely, concisely and freshly as achievable the thoughts assembled in the writer's head.
A variety, in reproduction, of works by visual artists, combined with examples of relevant texts from a sample of contemporary poets, provide the springboard substance of the session, the basic purpose of which is to leave the participants with a positive sense of creative achievement.
Patrick Collins teaches creative writing at Oxford and is an accomplished poet and playwright. He is a sensitive and caring tutor and you can be sure of a thought provoking session in which you can be involved practically.
If you have never been to a creative writing workshop then we heartily recommend Patrick to you and if you are a seasoned learner then Patrick will challenge and support you in equal measures.
